Before I began my professional counseling career, I spent more than 5 years working in higher education. In my role, I had the opportunity to offer academic and career counseling to students, while utilizing my counseling skills to assist students who needed additional support.
Throughout my time in the mental health field, I have had the opportunity to work with clients across the lifespan for individual, couple, group, and family work. I am passionate about play therapy and addictions (including processed addictions). Additionally, I have experience in working with clients who suffer from chronic mental illness (i.e.: schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, etc.) with and without psychotic features.
My primary theoretical approach in counseling is person centered therapy. I heavily rely on being genuine, nonjudgmental, and empathetic. My goal is to meet you (the client) where you are; and my mission is to walk my clients out of whatever is holding them back, so that they can achieve all of their dreams in this life. I believe in collaborating with my clients because you are the expert of your life!
Please feel free to give me a call to schedule a brief consultation to determine if we would be a good fit for each other. I look forward to hearing from you!
