Deciding to seek counseling can be a scary process filled with uncertainty of what to expect. My goal is to create a comfortable and relaxed space where you are free to address and explore aspects of your life that are presently relevant to you. It can be uncomfortable to discuss personal subjects with a stranger. So the focus will first be on creating a therapeutic relationship, in which we move at your pace of comfort.
I do not believe that I, or any other counselor, have all the answers. In fact, you are more of an expert on you and your life than I am. We will collaborate to help you grow toward wellness and move forward in your life, whatever that uniquely looks like for you. When working with me you can expect encouragement, humor, and compassion.
I commonly work with:
- Individuals, couples, families, and groups
- Ages 12 and older
- Multicultural topics (racial issues, immigrant populations, financial stress, etc.)
- Anxiety and depression
- Topics related to trauma, domestic violence, and grief
- Traditional talk therapy and expressive arts techniques
